Carrie Hill

Carrie is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (CA AMFT #122736) specializing in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy. Carrie was raised outside of Seattle, Washington, and has called San Diego home for 4 years, after an 8-year stopover in northern California’s Bay Area. Carrie holds a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University and has been a therapist for 3 years.

Carrie enjoys working with a wide range of clients – while in Practicum at Alliant International University, Carrie worked at Center For Mindful Relationships, a clinic located near downtown San Diego serving individuals, couples, and families seeking improved communication, connection, and fulfillment in relationships. During this time Carrie also worked at Hilltop Middle School and Palomar High School in Chula Vista, facilitating group therapy sessions and providing individual counseling to teens (ages 12-18) working through emotional disturbances, identity issues, and relationship struggles.

Before coming to Stronger Together Community Services, Carrie worked at Personal Evolution Psychotherapy (PEP), a clinic specializing in DBT. While at PEP, Carrie received her certification in the ‘Jump Start in Dialectical Behavior Therapy’ training, facilitated by Shari Manning, Ph.D., at Treatment Implementation Collaborative, as well as her certification in ‘Core Skills in DBT’ a Master Class led by Annie McCall, MA, LMHC, focused on structuring and teaching DBT skills training groups. At PEP, Carrie also worked as an Optum TERM Therapist, providing psychotherapy to children (ages 6-17), parents, and foster families within the San Diego Child Welfare Services system.

At Stronger Together Community Services, Carrie specializes in anxiety and depression-related disorders, borderline personality disorder, and symptoms related to complex post-traumatic stress disorder. Since coming to Stronger Together Community Services, Carrie has completed the ‘EMDR Therapy Basic Training’ facilitated by the Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program. Carrie offers individual, couples, and family therapy sessions utilizing DBT, EMDR, and CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), in addition to DBT group skills training classes. With Carrie’s range of professional and life experience, she can provide clients with a personalized path to treatment, recovery, and prevention of the many maladaptive behaviors that may be holding them back from living fulfilling lives. Carrie offers clients a genuine and individualized approach to building their life worth living.
